It was yet another Nadal masterclass at the French Open this year, as the 32-year-old Spaniard brushed aside the competition with a dominant display of spin and athleticism. It was Nadal’s 11th win at Roland Garros – a record that’s unlikely ever to be broken – and there seems no end in sight for the undisputed King of Clay.

The Gravity Media (as HyperActive) team was delighted to play its part at the event, having shipped some 3 tonnes of Avid and EVS equipment to Paris, and with our engineer’s onsite to support 12 x Avid Media Composer Systems and a large EVS integration workflow with our ChannelMAX LSMs, XTAccess and IPDirector hardware.

The project went off without a hitch, with every strike of the ball and every slip, slide and smash captured and ingested for ITV and the FFT through our partners Input Media.

With the second Grand Slam of the season done and dusted, our attention turned immediately to The Championships at Wimbledon. This year, our setup at The All England Club includes 10 x Avid Media Composer systems, some 96TB worth of network storage, 7 x 8ch EVS XT3s, and 10 x EVS XTAccess for up to 40 record streams, plus Avid Interplay, all designed within a 10GigE infrastructure.

Our team of engineers will be onsite in SW19 to support BBC Sport throughout the tournament, where it’s likely Nadal will have to hand over the baton to his life-long nemesis, Roger Federer. There’s certainly life in the old dogs yet.
