Gearhouse Actis Adds Grass Valley Cameras to Boost Rental Business

For nearly 25 years, Gearhouse Actis has been offering high-quality rental equipment and broadcast services to large global clients in southern Europe. Gearhouse Broadcast, the parent company, has additional offices in the UK, Australia, USA and Qatar, specializing in equipment rental, equipment sales, outside broadcast, project solutions and systems integration for large-scale live and near-live events. To extend its portfolio and grow its business, Gearhouse Actis has added LDX 80 Flex cameras with XCU Elite base stations from Grass Valley, a Belden Brand.

“With a long history of providing camera solutions for broadcasters, live event organizations and producers, we are always striving to offer the very best in technology,” said Mathieu Rocton, managing director, Gearhouse Actis. “The Grass Valley cameras are a perfect addition to our line of advanced rental products, and we are confident that clients will agree.”

Built for business flexibility and operational excellence, with superior imaging, processing and performance, the LDX 80 Flex is an advanced imaging, single-format 1080i or 720p camera. With the GV-eLicense program, users have the ability to upgrade the LDX 80 Flex to any other camera in the LDX 80 Series, based on business and production needs.

The XCU (eXchangeable Control Unit) base stations feature a cradle that can be pre-mounted and pre-wired in the rack, making a secure mechanical and electrical connection, permitting the XCU base station to easily slide in and out whenever needed. The XCU is available in two models—the XCU WorldCam which supports the LDX Series upgradable camera platform and many LDK Series camera heads with both triax and fiber solutions for 3G/1.5G operation, and the XCU Elite which supports current 1080i and 720p HD formats and is upgradable to full XCU WorldCam specifications for 1080p operation.

“This investment by Gearhouse Actis opens up a number of new opportunities for the rental business in southern Europe,” noted Steve Stubelt, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Grass Valley. “Our cameras and base stations are easy to use and easy to move around as needed, so customers will have a lot of flexibility in how they capture their events. Gearhouse Actis understands the demands in this space and investigated all the options before making this decision.”
